Florida 2013

Grammie & PopPop’s house on Siesta Key was the perfect getaway!

We arrived early on Saturday afternoon, the temperatures were only in the high 50s but it was still a refreshing change from the CT snow.

With the exception of Monday, we adhered to a rigorous schedule:

  1. 10:00 am – 5:00 pm - Sunbathe by the pool. Moving only to cool off in the pool or get something to eat.

  2. 5:00 pm – 10:00 am - Eat and watch TV/read/play computer games and sleep

Cooper (who only jumped into the pool for the first time last year) added swimming in the deep end to her list of aquatic accomplishments. She was in the pool most of the time, regardless of the weather. She loved diving under the water to retrieve waterlogged toy fish. She even found a way to con her brother into feeding her from the poolside so she wouldn’t have to get out to snack.

Carter was happy snuggling with Grammie, floating in the pool or playing with the beach toys, serving up “fish eyes” for everyone’s culinary delight.

We made it to the beach once as well. It was very windy cutting the visit short, however Dawn and Grammie got some sun, the kids played in the sand and the Bocce tournament was tied at 1 game each.

Thanks to a late afternoon flight, we were able to enjoy the warm sunny Saturday morning, leaving after the now traditional lobster rolls.
